Breast Reconstruction

Reconstruction of a breast that has been partially or totally removed due to cancer or other diseases is a major challenge for the plastic surgeon who must bring all his experience, as each case requires individual consideration. It is necessary that the patient expose their wishes and concerns to the surgeon so that together they can decide which technique best suite to the case. The reconstruction can be immediate (with simultaneous removal surgery) or delayed (some time later). It may take more than one surgical time. There are various methods and materials used in the reconstruction: placement of expanders, prosthesis, transfer her own tissues (such as skin and fat from the abdomen), fat grafting or combined procedures.
