Breast Surgery: Increase

Increase mastoplasty
It is intended for the increase of breast volume. The surgical procedure involves placing silicone gel prostheses through small incisions in the space between the mammary gland and the pectoralis major muscle. Sometimes it may be necessary to implant them behind the muscle. The size of the prosthesis will be a shared decision between surgeon and patient. Anesthesia can be local with sedation or general and the surgery is ambulatory. The duration of the procedure is 1 to 2 hours and the results are long lasting, although they can be modified with weight gain and pregnancy / lactation. Initial recovery is 7 to 15 days and a month is required to fully restart all physical activities. The implants must be controlled over the years. No implanted material is eternal and all suffer a wear and tear within the body. The materials that are currently used are of better quality and more durable than those previously used. The implants can be smooth, textured or coated with polyurethane and the gel is cohesive. The profile can be low, moderate or high. Up to the present time, links between silicone and autoimmune diseases have not been proven or as a trigger for breast cancer.
